Legendary works of men 33 years to build stone castles picks

One man was 33 years painstakingly picked stones to build a castle, inspired designs from the postcard, strange animals to famous Hindu temple.
Ferdinand Cheval was a French postman staff. This man does not know much about art or architecture, his work is purely postman. Yet, he spent 33 years of his life to build a special construction, the materials he picked up while on the postman.
Palais Ideal is located in the town of hauterives, DrĂ´me province, southern France. Castle was built from 1879 and completed in 1912, is made of stones with different shapes he Cheval picked up during the occupation postman.
The idea of building a castle was formed after once he Cheval rock faces on the way to work. From there, he used to carry a wheelbarrow on the road about 28 km long postman to collect pebbles or stones with strange shapes.
"In my dream or my dream of building a palace or castle ... But I can not tell anyone about this intention lest people to be ridiculous," he Cheval said.

It takes about 22 years, Cheval complete the exterior wall using stones collected, lime, mortar and cement. He spent a further 11 years to design the inner space and created himself his own castle. The work is done mainly at night, under the light of oil lamps.
Today the castle is open all year round for guests to visit, as well as a venue for concerts and art exhibitions
