Eleanor Hawkins, British girl, 23, pleaded guilty before a court of Malaysia that her public nuisance when stripped on volcano Kinabalu of Malaysia, along with a group of tourists from Canada and the Netherlands.
Appearing in court this morning in Kota Kinabalu 12.6, Hawkins got libel. Two female tourists and a tourist Canada Netherlands also pleaded guilty. A few other people in the group also stripped in the previous week but climbing is not clear how their attitude.
These visitors also alleged noise and piss on the mountain in a lake nearby. Many people assign to them that their uncouth actions had caused the earthquake on Mount Kinabalu 5.6 yesterday killed 18 tourists.
Vice premier Malaysian state of Sabah Joseph Pairin Kitingan said the earthquake six days later due to disrespect for sacred mountains as group travelers stripped naked and photographed in the mountains. He said that there will be a special ceremony was held to pray the god paint.
Hawkins could face penalty verdict for up to 3 months in prison in Kota Kinabalu on Borneo island.
Her lawyer has recommended to judges only apply the punishment and deportation. The attorney said that four people convicted of publicly apologized to the people of Malaysia for their careless actions, moreover, there is no scientific evidence to prove that the act of Hawkins and other visitors caused Match Earthquake - lawyer countered.
FCO said that the legal process is a matter of court Malaysia and the Ministry is not appropriate to comment on this. The priority of the Ministry is backing Hawkins and her family.
